📖 What is a Verb?

A verb is an action word — it tells what someone or something does. Action verbs show movement or activity (run, eat, sing). Verbs can be in present tense (happening now: "I walk") or past tense (already happened: "I walked"). Most past tense verbs add -ed (jump→jumped), but some are irregular (run→ran, eat→ate).
